CUP AND SAUCER – DU PAQUIRE
This cup and saucer was purchased in Europe in 1957 from a dealer in Munich, Germany, Galerie Almas Maria Dietrich. During the Bottger period (1709-1719) and later, silver was rarely used as a decoration. On the other hand, at Du Paquire, the use of silver was quite usual. This cup and saucer has this silver decoration. The inside of the cup and the saucer are completely covered with it. The silver has long since oxidized and is now black. This must be distinguished from the so-called Swarzlot decoration which was black enamel paint. The bottom of the foot rim is quite sandy and rough, which is characteristic of early Du Paquire.
