(a crack across the base of the basket)

This underglazed blue and white bowl used in England for chestnuts or fruit is an unusually pretty example. It is copied from a Meissen piece. The mark is a crescent which is the most usual factory mark. The paste and gilt are particularly fine. The translucency is a deep green.
